In addition, Dr. Traci has expertise in treating adults with relationship, infertility, and sexuality related problems. She has extensive experience working with adults and children in both hospital and private practice settings, dealing with issues including severe mental illness, psychological and emotional problems, developmental disorders (including Autism Spectrum Disorders), relationship difficulties, lifestyle concerns, and learning difficulties.
Her qualifications include a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Child and Family Specialisation), an Honours Degree in Behavioural Science, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and an Honours Degree in Arts. She is registered as a Psychologist within the state of Victoria, is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the APS College of Clinical Psychology and is registered as a specialist in the treatment of pervasive developmental disorders such as Autism and Aspergers syndrome. She is also a member of the Autism Expert Provider Panel, Victoria, and as such is registered to assess and treat Autism Spectrum Disorders under the FAHSCIA scheme.
Dr Traci has specific qualifications in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and learning, and is registered as an Equine Psychotherapist with the prestigious Equine Psychotherapy Institute of Australia. Dr. Coventry’s approach to Equine Psychological Therapy differs from Equine Assisted Learning as it has deepening the relationship and the relationship process as its focus. It also differs from other equine psychotherapy therapies as her extensive clinical practice experience allows her to integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and more traditional empirically supported therapy approaches into equine work.
Dr. Traci is able to draw from all areas of her training to give her patients the best of both worlds: The benefits of the most advanced animal assisted therapeutic methods and those of empirically supported therapeutic methods.
Dr Traci’s media work has involved expert contributions to Magazines including Dolly, Madison, Huffington Post, The Sydney Morning Herald and Australian Women’s Health. For the past 8 years she has been a member of the expert panel for Women’s Health Magazine Australia, a leading Australian magazine where she writes a regular Q&A column on relationships. In addition, she is regularly sought after for interviews on psychological issues, most recently being a guest expert for shows on anxiety, sex, and equine and animal assisted therapy on ContactTalk Radio.
